Director, Product Management

We believe in the philosophy of product managers as CEOs of their respective products. Your primary responsibility will be for the overall success of our product line as well as setting and executing its strategy. To form that strategy, you will gather information from a variety of sources: customer research, sales data, internal and external customer’s website traffic patterns, user behavior, competitive market analysis, etc. You’ll work with senior leadership to align the company around the product strategy, roadmap and milestones. You’ll prioritize and allocate resources against an array of simultaneously-running projects, from making build-buy- partner decisions (with appropriate analysis to match) along with bringing major new features or price points all the way from conception to market and into ongoing maintenance.

The Director of Product Management will be responsible for producing the key personas, workflows, scenarios, and stories necessary to effectively communicate business context and goals.

This position reports to the CEO.

The A Player Director, Product Management is the following:
  • Product Management Expert: The director of product management has experience taking new products to market through a variety of distribution channels and has strong product/market strategy experience.
  • Customer Centric Market Builder: This individual is comfortable with developing long-term relationships with customer to develop new product and iterate existing offerings.
  • Gets Things Done: The director of product management knows how to succeed in a fast paced environment. In addition to knowing when to delegate, the A-Player is also able to take direct action to accomplish desired outcomes (Must be willing and able to roll up sleeves).
  • Focused: The director of product management knows how to prioritize, focus, and say no to things that may seem-but are not-important.
  • Strategic: The director of product management is able to look at a complex landscape of customer needs, BuildFax assets, and market conditions in order to make high impact strategic decisions.
The A Player Director, Product Management does the following:
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth
  • Define the short- and long-term product roadmap for our data products and communicate your vision and its business case to stakeholders throughout the company
  • Be a prime advocate for the customer, gathering and prioritizing opportunities for new features and product improvements from both users and company stakeholders
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
  • Champion the product roadmap by defining specific requirements/stories and working alongside UI/UX team to define/hone your vision, development and QA teams to architect and implement it, and cross-functional business teams such as marketing and sales to bring it to market
  • Implement a rigorous customer interview and feedback process
  • Work hand-in-hand with the project management and development teams to continuously hone the development process
  • Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding both internally and externally
  • Represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on company products and services
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in identifying and evaluating opportunities for new products
Experience we are seeking:
  • BS or BA required: Masters or MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of Product Management or Strategy experience preferably in B2B and Information Services space
  • Business Development experience
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Leadership experience - building and leading strong teams
