post river clean-up

Green Week 2015, July 13th-17th

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint by 10% by September 2015, BuildFax is joining our parent company, DMGI, for a week of activities encouraging employees to be more environmentally conscious.

  • River Cleanup with RiverLink
    - Thursday, July 16th, many of the BuildFax staff spent the morning cleaning up Reed Creek from the UNCA Botanical Gardens to the French Broad River, collecting over 100 pounds of garbage and recyclables!
  • Recycling Refresher
    - Friday July 17th, the BuildFax offices were visited by Christine Brown, environmental educator with Asheville Green Works, to learn about local recycling efforts and the impact they're having on the local ecosystem.
  • Canned Food Drive
    - All week, July 13th-17th, we participated in a canned food drive to support MANNA Food Bank. This was a wonderful way to repurpose an important resource for another cause, in this case helping those in need of food here in Western North Carolina.
  • Temperature Research
    - To help make sure we're being as energy efficient as possible, we will be conducting temperature research by placing small digital thermometers throughout around the office. This research will be conducted for the entire month of July to help monitor and adjust A/C settings.
